How the plant looks when affected: distorted or curled new leaves, sticky residue, ants present.

Fungus Gnats

What they look like: small dark flies, similar to fruit flies but slightly more slender. They hover near the soil and fly up in a small cloud when the pot is disturbed.

Where to find them: around the soil surface. The adults fly around the plant but the larvae, which do the actual damage, live in the top few centimetres of soil.

How the plant looks when affected: unexplained wilting and yellowing in a plant that appears to be watered correctly, because the larvae damage roots.

Step Three: Choose the Right Natural Treatment

For Mealybugs
