• Fill 10–12 inch pots (one per variety) with well-drained potting mix. Shallow trays also work well for Portulaca.

• Sow each variety as directed on its individual packet. Place Marigold & Portulaca in full sun. Ornamental Chilli & Vinca do well in full sun to partial shade. Place Coleus in partial shade.

• Mist gently to keep soil moist until germination. All five are low-maintenance once established — water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
